TIm Hortons Canadian for Coffee
Well *Sigh* It has been such a busy summer that I hardly know where the time has gone.I am not really sure whether or not that is a good or bad thing but it is what it is I suppose.
I talked with some canadians today as I waited in the black catte so I could give another employee a ride home when she got off work. Her familiy actually owns two tim hortons resturaunt and as she and her husband waited for their meals adn he sipped his labatt and their 3 yr old colored at the bar I chatted with ease about the islands history. The 200 year old building we were seated in and the surrounding area. I realize how in some ways how work is just an extension of who I am. I do so many things where I work I hardly know most times what to say when people ask what I do for a living. I love talking to all the cool people that arrive on our island.
There are all sorts of things I love about my job. I like checking people in as they arrive on the island. I love the looks I get by those customers who think that we are the most beautful campground that they have ever seen. I like doing kids activities. I love putting my bosses daughter to sleep and watching her when she is peaceful.
Then there are the customers who think it costs too much or who want to complain even though you are powerless to fix what they are complaing about. Then there are the customers who want to get angry because they have unrealistic expectations. I have decided that some people don't know how to be happy. They are determined to seek out any reason to complain or be unhappy and will not be happy until their anger and displesure is acknowledged. *Sigh* they are the people who make me not want to return another summer on the island. It is inevitable that we cannot make everyone happy but of course those who are happy rarely come to the office. I digress. I am anticipating the fall with the joy most reserve for the summer. I cannot wait to have an entire saturday without work. I have only had one saturday off all summer and i got up at 5:30 to go to a wedding that morning so i am not sure that counts.
Oh yeah 2 MORE WEEKS!!!
For those of you who are not aware I will be living with the tylers this semester and that should be really fun especially since two of their college age sons will be home. My room is really cool and I get to have a double bed and my room has a seperate entrace and is off the kitchen. The bonuses to this living arrangement include free laundry, driveway parking and breakfast and dinner. Their house is huge and even has a way that you can go from the attic onto the roof. I am so excited. Did I mention Less that 2 MORE WEEKS !!!
Well I had better get off the ole dial up now. I have been too tired to update much all summer working 40-50 hours a week. I applied last week to work in the library which should be a great job if I get it for this semester. I am not going to be driving back to the island after the 27th for an extended period of time. It will be a fresh start living with the tylers.
Shalom-Kate
